Forget Corbyn and Sinn Fein: Meet the Senior Tory Who Was in the IRA

As the Tories attack Jeremy Corbyn for trying to negotiate with Sinn Fein, the IRA's political front back in the 1970s, it is time to remember that they have elected members in their party who were once senior figures in the IRA itself.

Meet Councillor Maria Gatland, who sits on Croyden Council. Under her maiden name of Maria McGuire she travelled to Amsterdam in 1971 to try and buy a shipment of arms from the Czechs to be used against British soldiers. The operation failed, but since Maria was by then polishing the knob of senior IRA man David O'Connell who went with her on the failed trip, he at least got to come home with his balls nicely empty and a big grin on his Fenian face.

Remember: Corbyn tried to make peace in Northern Ireland and the Tories welcome people in their ranks who tried to help the slaughter continue!

Now click here to read about another ex-IRA man that the Tories loved to have in their ranks!

  2. As I understand it from her book she was way above that level. She went to Amsterdam as her lover's translator, and was heavily involved in trying to get John Stephenson or Sean Mac Stiofain as he liked to style himself, bumped off.

I like the story about getting IRA molls to jump, by the way. I'll bet there are more than a few old grannies who remember you and your mates back in the day.

  3. You are a hateful bunch. Devoid of basic humanity. No wonder the IRA, electricians and hill farmers, ran you ragged. Come on back to the North of Ireland on your holidays. We have moved on from your days of colonial dominance. The future for Ireland is very bright. Your war has been lost. Just look at the North. Your comrades died for absolutely nothing. Don't blame us. Blame your governments!

    1. Ironic really, the IRA were brought to the peace talks because they knew their war of attrition would never succeed as it was against the intelligence capabilities of the British security services and military, I don't think there's many that are educated and unbiased that would disagree, so there was no running ragged, the IRA were never ever going to be a match for the likes of MI5, 14INT, the SAS, Special Branch et al, and Ulster is Still part of the United Kingdom or Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sinn Fein, the IRA, INLA and the entire republican movement lost the war, failed to achieve a united Ireland, yet you say OUR war is lost?

      Delusional

    3. You're absolutely joking right? No match. The best Guerilla army that has ever existed, that taught American special forces how to deal with Guerilla warfare, not only that but masterminds when it came to destroying Britain's Economy, they targeted large franchises that would bring Britains wealth up dramatically and blew them up, warned the people of course to get out as it was the franchise they wanted so England would lose millions, which they did, which meant they couldn't supply their armies as much, where the IRA were inventing nail bombs, pipe bombs on barely anything, England couldn't afford to go on, they were losing easily and would have lost control over Ireland so they settled for the north during the peace process. Get your facts right and educate yourself on history

I'm astonished that anyone with so much as a parking fine against them can find themselves elected to a parliamentary seat. I can't even get a sorting job at the Royal Mail because of a common assault charge 10 years ago. Seems to me parliament is full of criminals of one sort or another. There are a lot of people who don't seem to have any integrity under close scrutinisation. Spoils it for those who do. But if you're going to throw stones, you had better make sure you don't live in a glass house yourself.

  7. Regardless of this woman, the claim that " Corbyn tried to make peace in Northern Ireland" is not true. He had f***-all to do with the peace process, but merely acted as a cheerleader for the IRA.
